At Parade Time
When I stumbled upon it, I didn’t know what to do with it.
I kept it first right side up on the desk. Then,
I usually did something else with it, put it elsewhere.
Not naming the
out of place, the have no place items.
First, I thought more mightily. Then,
the cardinal came in winter still. It is winter still!
This is not an appearance, this is a biding of one’s time,
a move-fast-or-I’ll-catch-you turn.
Take the posts, believe you are the best sentry. Make
those second copies of the keys.
I have deliberated and paused and asked
for the flowers grown. Turn this first. Have the idea of artists
at bus terminals.
