Artistic Statement #3
My work is an aggressive attempt to redeem corrupted youth by rebuilding their torn mechanical wings. Through this process, I hope to reconnect to the primary experience of giddy flight, as I experienced it with my seven daughters; they took the form of swans. It is, in great part, a search for the dregs from a burlap sack of feathers, the cultural treasures of my father’s generation. When evening comes, let’s fly off to bed with our wives and their lonely children.
